Projects:
Her, Unfolding
2021

Her, Unfolding is an immersive exhibit by Lauren Kelisha Muller presented by Vinyl Crown Records. The project started off as a collaboration between Lauren and Saint Cassius where the painting Unsettled (2014) was paired as the cover art for Cassius' single Brown Skin Girls. Check it out:

Her, Unfolding tells the story of our Brown Skin Girl protagonist as she ebbs and flows through the solace and unrest that coexist within her interior and exterior worlds. Unsettled, the painting chosen as the seed of this collaboration, marks the start of her self awareness, making her realize just how much of herself she might’ve lost along the way, and initiates her conscious evolution toward wholeness.

Her, Unfolding welcomes you to wander through her home; the corners and creases of each fold unveil insight into intimate fragments that piece together her inner life.

The project grew into a solo exhibition of Lauren's work from 2014-2021

Hosted by Harlem's Kente Royal Gallery, the show was up from June 2nd - June 27th, 2021

Felt nice to shoot this piece coming out of quarantine after spending so much time with self. I wonder, did you wander like she? Did you get to breathe and question what you believe?

Net-a-Porter x JW Anderson
2018

I've crafted a story that follows a young woman throughout the day, wearing the Net-a-Porter x JW Anderson capsule collection.

Incorporating visual, written, and spoken elements, this vignette aims to evoke an overall sense of ease, presence and ownership over one's own self amidst a fast-paced world.

Inspired by the collection's steadfast emphasis on "Art for Art's Sake," reclaiming the power of aesthetic value by allowing art to speak for itself, my narrative takes a moment to breathe in the visceral air of simply being and allowing our existence to be enough.

Appointing a thought to each image, she invites us into her inner monologue while navigating the day with the graceful form and fluidity of the Net-a-Porter x JW Anderson silhouette.

Paying tribute to the fleeting beauty of the speed at which both cars and time travel- she simultaneously relishes in relinquishing attachment to any one place or moment. Moving at her own pace, in harmonious presence within her surroundings, she is the core of self expression; freedom.
